Spectacles

I remember when I first got glasses. The main concern was finding a pair that would be the most unseen. To not detract from your face. To not call attention to your bat-blindedness.

I recently got around to picking out a new pair of glasses. My Mom tells me that I look like I'm missing some tape around the bridge. They're big. They're black. And they're fun.

I'm glad to see that we're slowly back to the idea of using glasses as a natural fashion accessory. Why wouldn't we? Of course, I would still advise you to steer clear of the red plastic monobrow look. That's a hard one to pull off.

  1. I just got new glasses too, with chunky frames that are a greenish blue blend. They are very fun. :-) Yay for fun glasses.

  2. When I first got glasses I had no idea what "fashionable" meant. (Not that things changed once I did figure it out...hence my collection of clothing these days.) I was eight and in third grade. My first glasses were thin metal frames, purple with pink and green sponge paint along the sides and around the eyepieces. I went from those to plain gold, then to rose and gold half-frames with fishing wire along the bottom of the lenses. From there I went to dark metal and finally started figuring out what was "stylish." And then I got contacts. In 2008 I got LASIK and said goodbye to this problem forever. Well, at least until I'm old.

    The end.
